Ross, I have seen this with hoods before. When people take off the hood it doesn't come off easy unless you spread it apart. My dad used to get mad at the hood and bend it out so it came off easier. Then the latches can't hold it because there is so much pressure pushing out on the hood. I have corrected this by taking off the hood, setting it on the ground, and making sure the sides are vertical and not bowed out at the bottom. If they are, bend each side so the sides are vertical.
