M Operating Temperature

The Temp. gauge goes into the red within 5 minutes of starting the tractor. (no load). I assumed it was the thermostat and replaced it. Still does the same thing. Im now thinking its the gauge and would like to know the running temp. to check the temp of the antifreeze. I replaced the gauge in January of this year, I cant believe its bad but the tractor doesnt seem too hot when I shut it down. Pump seems to be working. Any other ideas?
