These diesels, especially the 282 or 301 should provide plenty of power for your S-150 truck without the turbo. Much more torque than your BD 220. The D-301 was a factory option in 1600's and 1700's a few years after your truck. This is a very easy swap for your six cylinder S-150. Go for it without the turbo and I think you will like it. I thought about doing it many years ago, in the late 60's or early 70's, but never got around to it.
