It appears from the way you asked the question that you're talking about a 350 Utility, not the Farmall. As Aces indicates, cleaning the strainer on the Farmall is apparently pretty easy, unfortunately it's not on the Utility.

On the 350U, the strainer hangs down below the level of the gasket surface dividing the reservoir, and it's really easy to damage if you don't remove the top part of the reservoir by lifting it STRAIGHT up, and have a good place to set it down. Having the heavy valves hanging off the right side unbalances the cover and makes it much more difficult to handle. It's not absolutely necessary to remove the valves, but it surely does increase the chances of doing the job without the strainer having a fatal heart attack. This is a good job to get somebody strong give you a hand with in any case. If I recall correctly a new strainer runs about $70-$80. Good luck.
