310 into 560 more questions

Answers to my previous post said 310 diesel was longer. Did they make an IH310 diesel? I measured the block and it seams to be the same length as my 282D. How do you tell the difference in the two 310's? The one I am looking at looks almost the same as my engine. What is the engine # prefix? Thanks for any help. doorguy
