460 trans shifter forks

I have a 460 gas that has started hanging up between gears (has done it twice now). Any one have any advice on where or what to look for? Could it be the shifter forks or the shifting lever itself? Once when it hung, I was able to pull the cover in the front part of the trans and take a small crow bar and pry the front most (left) fork rail backwards and got it unstuck. The second time, it was the other (right) fork, and we had to take another tractor and chain and gently "shake" the tractor a bit to get it unstuck. Any advice greatly appreciated!
