tire repair

just wanted to know if anyone had any tricks to repair a gash on the outside of a rear tire. just put the tire used it twice bush hoging and found a old fence post. it put a 1/4" deep by 1/4" wide and almost 4 to 5" long slash right at a cleat. its a six ply tire but i didn't know if any way this may weaking and rip even longer. or if it may be a way to help it now. thanks Ea wathen.
