1939 M PROPANE

Can I change propane tank back to a regular gas tank and hook fuel line to present LP carb without changing carb or any of the Ensin system?If not will the M carb. work on LPG intake manifold. Now this M is serial #2241 made in Sept. 1939 which is possibly the oldest M on Propane. It was converted in 1953. Should I put is back to original, or leave it like it is? A big problem for one who likes originality. Thanks for Help and coments. Buck
