I had that problem with a Buda.
I put a 2"square tube across the top and bottom
of the engine connected with 3/4" threaded rod
on each end. Put spacers under the top tube so
the sleeve and piston can come up out. Take
a piece of 2"rectangular tubing by whatever fits over the bottom
end of the connecting rod, but still large enough
to catch the sleeve. Tighten the nuts and force
sleeve and piston out together. Worked great
with wet sleeves and sleeves that projeced
below the bore in the block. You do have to
remove the Crank though.
