Dale It should start right up by pulling. Pull it in 5th and open the throttle about way. Youll get some white smoke at first but the engine should start. Tip: Set the changeover lever to gas (start) position as you begin to pull (this partially decompresses the engine, makes it easier to start spinning and lessens the chance of skidding the tires). Once the engine begins rolling move the lever back to the diesel (run) position. To the problem of gas not getting into the engine, make sure the butterfly valves in the manifold close fully when you move the changeover lever to the gas position. Problem could also be a bit of junk plugging in the carburetor fuel discharge orifice. Good luck!
