Ken: As I see it you have a 340 with foreward-reverse drive. The only experience I have on tractors from this era is the 560 and mine was equiped with TA rather than F-R drive. It was either or in those days. As I understand the problem you can't get the complete system to drain. When filled these tractors do transfer the oil from one compartment to the other. However when you want to get rid of contaminated oil, mainly water, it is very hard to do. That is one fault I had with 560 as well. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I am understanding your problem. The dealer did cure my 560 and very likely that drilled hole was the cure.
