I used a speedy sleeve. This is not a problem if your pump uses a seal as opposed to an o-ring. Mine has an o-ring, I had to have the shaft hole enlarged to allow use of the speedy sleeve, other wise it fit the hole too tightly. You can also have the shaft built up. If you do that, take it to a machine shop that knows what they are doing. There are procedures that can be used that avoid getting the shaft too hot so that it doesn't lose it's hardness. If it is simply brazed there is a possibility that it will get too hot, and brazing doesn't last long anyway. If the shaft breaks and jams, you will have more problems than just a leaking pump.
