Farmall Cub has no power

Hi- We just bought a Farmall Cub that looks to be a 1952. She has sat for at least two years, but the former owner put a new battery in and it fired right up. She seems to idle good, and does not smoke, but as soon as a load is put on the engine, she dies right out. Just trying to drive or back up a very slight rise will cause it to die. Knowing nothing about these, I am probably asking a very basic common question, but where should I start to trace the problem? Thanks for any suggestions.
