Power steering shaft

I have a Farmall 504 tricycle with power steering. The universal joints are getting pretty sloppy so I am thinking about replacing them. I removed everything to get at the upper joint on the power unit and found that the yoke that attaches to the power shaft to be quit lose. It almost feels like it is in a ball joint since it can move in all directions. Does it suppose to be free like that or is the shaft/yoke worn? How is it attached to the power unit shaft? Has anyone out there ever removed the joint from the power unit? Thanks in advance! Tom
