Int 435 baler problems

I got my baler out for the first time this season today. After going about 15-20 feet, I sheared a bolt. It was caused by the 2 knives hitting each other. The plunger wants to slide towards the side of the chute where the stationary knife is bolted. The chute can be pushed over and will slide by the knife, but it moves back after it clears the knife on the return stroke. Does the wooden shim on top rear of the plunger take up this play and allow the plunger to take the proper path? If not, what adjustments do I need to make to correct this problem? Thanks in advance for thr help. By the way, the baler was working fine when I put it up last fall.
