timing a Farmall regular

What's the best way to time the mag on a regular? An old gentelman who used to be a farmall mechanic rattled it off to me once but I wasn't working on a Farmall at the time so it didn't sink in. Now he has passed away and I wish I would have listened closer because I now have the task at hand. I have timed a lot of engines but never one with a timing retarder like the old Farmalls had. I can't find any timing marks. Thanks in advance.
