You know my son had a similar problem on a p/u truck engine. He said (later) that he had added about a gallon of water to the rad but the current problem was white smoke out the tail pipe, lots of it. I told him to back off the pressure cap and see if it quit. He said it quit and he reinstalled the cap and now it doesn't do it. So I asked myself the same question and my answer was "don't see how but something changed". So that is my answer to you.
