No disrespect to anyone, but I agree we dip the flag for far too many. If we go by those rules we would never have the flag flying "high", as I am sure there is a veteran, or postal worker, etc, etc. who is a veteran passing on every day. My father was a disabled WWII veteran wounded seriously in action, but I do not feel the country should have lowered the flag on his passing. Mom and I did request the military service at his funeral, and proudly display the flag which was presented to mom who has since passed on. As someone stated the President, and/or possibly the Governor should be the only ones to determine when to lower our flag. We should not have to ask why a flag is flying at half staff. Respectfully.
