Lets not rule out a crack in the manifold. It takes 10 mins for it to get hot enough to expand enough to let too much air in, and will only run right when more gas is added. Go out and get a propane torch. DONT LIGHT IT. Start the tractor, let it warm a little and run the propane over the manifold, if the idle changes any! Its a leak.

Up till then, this tractor had been running a corn grinder and pulling a trailer. It had new unfilled rear tires and no wheel weights.
