Floppy steering is usually combination of things: worn worm and worm wheel, worn or out of adjustment bearing at the front of the worm, worn bushings in the fixed bolster – especially the upper one, slop in the steering shaft U-joint, etc. You’ll need to check/repair each one as required. Also check to see that you put the lower bolster assembly onto the pivot shaft on the right way. The vertical leg of the casting should be angled slightly toward the REAR of the tractor. Also if there was a wedge-shaped spacer between the upper bolster pivot shaft and the lower bolster, make sure it’s installed with side marked “FRONT” facing the front of the tractor. (Note - The wedge spacer doesn’t show in my parts catalogs, but I’ve seen several lettered Farmalls – including my SH – with them)
