My father installed the optional PTO unit on a Cub Cadet model 71 tractor back in 1965. The PTO required opening up the transmission to install its components, which were based on the larger Farmall Cub tractor. The 71 was then used to drive a grain elevator, one modified since the Cub Cadet PTO spun the opposite direction relative to other tractors. He said it worked very well. He still owns the 71, and it still has its operating PTO unit.
