What size shells came out of it ? How was your oil pressure before ? If the oil pressure was good, buy a new set of whatever came out. The size should be marked on the back of the old shells. If the oil pressure was low, without a more accurate measurement (for example 2.210"), it gets really messy. If your measurement is good, a 0.030" oversize still leaves you with about 0.004" running clearance. The rod bearing clearance is spec'ed at 0.002" to 0.003". More clearance leads to lower oil pressure. Even with excellent measurements, the clearance has to be checked with Plastigage when you put the motor back together. My parts book shows a part number 355285R11 that is .032" undersize (sn 501 to 391357). It may or may not be available any longer. If they are not available, bearings have been shimmed up to give the right clearance. It is a process that has a finite risk of ruining the motor. Before I put my money down for bearings, I would borrow or buy a better caliper.

The Nuts and Bolts of Fasteners - Part 2 - by Curtis Von Fange. In our previous article we discussed capscrews, bolts, and nuts along with their relative hardness and thread sizes. In this segment we will finish up on our fasteners and then work with ways to keep them from loosening up in the field. Capscrews, bolts and nuts are not the only means of holding two parts together. When dealing with thinner metals like sheet tin, a long bolt and
