K.B., "The D-282 diesel in the 656 and most 706's is real easy on fuel, but is a hard starter if you don't keep the electical system in good shape." A very sharp IH mechanic showed me this trick: For cold weather starting, advance the pump timing just the thickness of the pump timing mark ('bout 1/32"); it makes a world of difference in how they start cold. But, ya gotta remember to bring it back to the original timing alignment in the springtime or else the engine will surge at higher RPMs. Allan
