Date of mfg on H

I was doing some maintenance on my tractors yesterday and I found a little data plate behind the left brake peddle with 8 15 47 stamped on it. Since my tractor is a 1947 I think this may be the mfg date. My other tractor has a plate there but its sorta messed up with extra screws in it. Ive been fooling with these old tractors for several years and I had not noticed that plate before or heard any reference to it when folks are trying to determine the year of their tractor. This plate is on the trans case top by the brake lock lever. Am I on to something or does this plate identify something else? Thanks Ed
