The constant mesh gears at the front of the tranny are under load in R 1 2 3 4 and when the lift all or rear PTO is used. No load in fifth, which is direct, because the countershaft is not receiving or sending power. No load on countershaft when power is going to belt pulley. I would guess that your click is a partially broken tooth. It might be a bearing. YOu need to fix it before the cost of repair escalates.
