Neal - You can crank the engine simply by connecting your negative jumper cable to the starter switch terminal (the heavy switch mounted on top of the starter), and positive jumper to the tractor frame. Then crank the motor by working the starter switch rod. Just make sure the ungrounded battery cable terminal is protected from contacting grounded metal in the battery box (wrap it with tape, etc) before making the jumper connections. If your ignition wiring is intact you can run the tractor jumpered up the same way. But in order to not cause any damage, first remove the wire from the BAT terminal on the regulator. Also limit run time to only a few minutes. Otherwise feeding the coil 12 volts without a series resistor can cause it to overheat and may also burn out the points.
