The top petcock is the full level. You want to fill the oil until it is just starting to drip out of the top one. The bottom one is the low level mark. As long as you get oil out of this one you are ok. Your A has the same engine that my C does. It takes 6 quarts of oil to change the oil and filter. There are dozens of opinions on what is the best oil to use. It is a preference thing. Good quality oil is best. The oil filter can be purchased from your local Case/IH dealer or auto parts store. I just bought some from Case/I for about $5.00 a piece. There is an o-ring under the oil filter cap that needs to be replaced when you change the filter.
