Thanks guys for all your help. I split the tractor last night and it went just as you said. I built some angle iron stands and bolted to the tractor and it came apart like a dream. The drive shaft was no problem and slid right out. I now have to disassemble the transmission to put new bearing in the top shaft. It has about 1/16" slop in the bearings so I hope the shaft is ok. As a note I do have the manual you suggest but the information was very general and had no details about splitting the tractor and the shaft in question. Again thanks for all your help.
