I had to split one of my C's a couple of years ago to put a new seal in the front of the transmission. When you split it at the front of the transmission it just pulls apart. The drive shaft just slides into the clutch assembly. With it split I was able to get to the front of the transmission with no problems. Safety is a key element here. Be sure to block and brace everything. My brother had a splitting stand that they use on a 1466 that we were able to modify and bolt to the front half of the tractor. I have narrow front ends so it is even more important to brace the front part. The back half we jacked up with a floor jack. One person could do it but two was very handy. Safety! Safety! Safety!
