I haven't been on here much lately but now that I am back I am seeing a lot of questions about TA's again. I have never tinkered with mine as I try to live by the rule 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' but at the same time if I am setting myself up for damage later by not doing some preventative maintenance, then I would rather do that then have to tear my little red work-horse apart. Here's the deal. Most of the time I run my tractor (a 1957 350 Wheatland Special Gas) with the TA lever pulled towards me - that is the low speed setting. When I have it thrown away in the high-speed setting I cannot shift gears or get the foot-clutch to totally disengage. Even with the clutch on the floor plate I can feel the tractor surge a little bit and there is no way I can get it to come out of gear. Am I wearing anything with it setup the way it is? My thought was that it was inconvient and not working quite the way it was designed but at the same time this setup would ensure that I was not having clutches slipping because they could not totally engage. Any thoughts? I do have the original owners manual, so if I need to go back over it in regards to adjusting clutches and TA then just say so. If there is a better way to skin this cat that you have learned from experience, then I am willing to take suggestions. Thanks in advance, Sean
