Most likely one of the diodes INSIDE the alternator are damaged causing the battery to run down. Any competent electrical shop can replace them; you can do it yourself if you have basic skills. You need an ohm-meter to test the diodes. The common Delco S-10 has 6 diodes (3+, 3-) and a diode trio internaly. Of course, you could buy a replacement alternator, but that takes all the fun out of "doing it yourself". Good Luck
