The serial tag on a Super M has the prefix SM, an M has FBK. If for some reason there was an experimental with the prefix FBX, it would not have a 6 digit serial number, as IH didn't make 300000 experimental M's, more like 10, if that many. If it has disk brakes that are held on by 3 bolts, those are Lambert brakes that were an option on M's and could also be retrofitted. The Super M disk brakes were held on by 6 bolts, I believe, and were also installed on M serials 294226-up. They will not fit serial 294225-down because the rear casting was not drilled for them, but yours is close, so this is not etched in stone. You could also have a replacement serial tag that is stamped with an X instead of an M. The engine will say C-248, I believe on the right side of the block, SM is a C-264, engine serial prefix (under the #1 spark plug) for an M is FBKM, for a SM, C-264. The grille of an SM has the IH symbol, this could have been changed. The X1 following the serial number is IH's code for a gasoline engine, as opposed to kerosene or distillate.
