Farmall H Transmission

Just to let everyone know the live hydraulics are fully functional on my '42 H. it even has enough pressure to lift a 24' culipacker, but doesn't have quite enough pressure to lift a 22' disk. The real reason for the post....
The transmission knocks when it is in 4th gear. we drained the fluid (looked more like grease than gear lube) and added 90w to it. Still knocks in fourth gear. the other gears work just fine and no knocking is present. just wondering if this is a common problem or if something needs to be taken care of immediately.
