Sounds similar to what I had with a 3020 some years ago. Did you find small bits of rubber in the fittings or by the check ball? Look like mouse turds. I dealt with Mike at Diesel Specialties in Albert Lea, Mn. 1-800-966-2198. His phone diagnosis matched what I found, I sent him the pump, and he replaced only what he told me he would. Works fine ever since.
