I just went thru the exact same thing on my 47 M, but i am not claiming to be an expert. However my Ford type solenoid starter switch was smokechecked and so was my coil. Bob M has the diagrams for wiring and i found out that i was missing the inline resistor between the coil and the starter switch, and the 20 amp fuse in the light panel which gives juice to the starter switch was blown as well. once i replaced those things my starter spun right over and the tractor starter in about 2 seconds. Good Luck.
