There was no solenoid used just a mechanical sw with a large button mounted behind the steering post one lead went to the starter and the other to the battery and a L-shaped lever on the operaters side of the steering post that you pushed with your foot. None from the factory had a hand operated device and no soleniod operated devices were used for starters. The battery side of this switch had a lead going to the oval shaped housing that operated lites,voltage to the dist and charging circut.
