There is a mark (DC-14 I believe) on the flyweel that can be seen by removing the inspection cover as mentioned in a previous message. Also another way to check (would suggest doing along with the flywheel mark)is to remove the valve cover and watch for when both valves are closed on cylinder #1, that way you know you have TDC on cylinder 1 and not 4, as they both will line up (at least very closly) to the DC-14 mark on the flywheel.
