Rob - For what it's worth we have (2) Stage II Super M's purchased new by my father in law in 1953. One came from the Farmall Works; the other is a Louisville. Aside from the serial numbers (and a factory wide front ordered on the Farmall Works tractor) the ONLY difference in the two is the ammeter faces. Even the parts catalog does not mention of Farmall Works vs Louisville assembled tractors. Note also that live hydraulics was a "delete option" on the Stage II and III tractors. There are some '53 Super M's (and probably some '54 MTA's) out there with belly pumps, or even without hydraulics, but with the battery box seat base. Incidentally here is roughly how the "stages" go: Stage I - belly pump hydraulics - first production thru late '52. Stage II - live hydraulics - late '52(?) thru '53 Stage III - Super MTA - '54 only
