You've got polarizing figured out Maurie! Just note that if the ammeter reads "backward" after polarizing you'll need to swap the wires on both ammeter terminals. Incidentally the regulator "L" terminal is intended as an external load (ignition, lights) supply point. However taking the load connection from the ammeter accomplishes the same thing
