M clutch and pressure plate ?

I just put in a new clutch and pressure plate in our Farmall M.The trouble is I have about 3/4 inch of freeplay then good clutch pedal but it grinds and won't let it go into gear.I am not sure what to do.Any help would be greatly appreciated.
