My DAD did custom baling for many years after He got out of the service after WW II with an IH #50-T baler pulled by an H. He bent a couple drawbars up bad until He welded two together one on top of the other like You suggest, He also welded 3/8" thk X 1" wide steel under the edges of the swinging drawbar all the way out to almost the tip of the drawbar. When He traded the '39 H off for the '54 Super H back in 1967 He kept the beefed-up drawbar. We haven't been able to bend it with anything We ever tried to do with that tractor. The H & SH "U" shaped drawbars were only 3/4" thk and the M, SM, SM-TA drawbars were 1" but still were not up to some tasks these tractors are capable of. I've seen the drawbar on DAD's '51 M bend down over an inch on real hard pulls when We were dragging 5000# poured concrete steps back to the creek. We had the chain hitched up REAL short to pull the rearend down and lift the load up while pulling forward. The M would pull them by itself but We hooked the Super M Dad had at the time up and pulled tandem style to make better time since We had a half mile to go.

The garden was already sprouting when we hooked up the mid-mount shovel cultivators to the Pony. The seed bed was soft enough that the rear end would spin and slowly work its way to the downhill side of the gardens slight incline. From this, we learned our lesson sinc
