Farmall 200

Hello,
I spent most of the winter working on restoration of my farmall 200. Finally got it back together. It sure is sweet when you've done all that work, put the final parts back together, then crank it and it fires first time! Whew! Saying all that, I have a question for ya'll. This tractor originally had a positive ground ignition system. (Positive battery post grounded) When I bought it the negative post was grounded and it started and ran just fine that way; however, the battery cable clamps and the size of the battery posts didn't match up properly. I replaced the battery and the battery cable and made it positive ground. Everything matches up and fits as it should. The generator is new also and is working as it should. (polarized it, no problem) Now to the question. My guage shows discharge when it is charging. Do ya'll suspect that this tractor was at one time changed from a positive ground to a negative ground, and that I need to reverse the leads on the ammeter?
