Well!!! I tell you fellas (now I sound like my dad)back when I was young not so long ago maybe late fifties in Ohio because we were too poor to keep the radiators fixed we only kept anti-freeze in our chore tractor, the H and the rest were our feed grinding tractors M Farmall and McCormick W-30 we would drain the blocks because we only put water in them and we finished at the end of the day we would loosen them while they were hot and wait till they were cooled down to finish taking them out and you better stand back out of the way. This was really a very common practice around our neighborhood until they came with coolant anti-freeze combo. This didn't sound too bad except when you woke up in the middle of the night and remembered you didn't do this fearing a cracked block which we had on the W-30 once. Anyway use your own judgment on wether to drain or not but if you are heat the tractor up and try carefully to loosen the plug then wait till it cools down thoroughly to finish taking it out and when you put it back in make sure to use pipe tape and pipe dope then removal becomes much easier in the future.

The need for fabricating becomes obvious when you go to buy any of these
