Farmallkid, Being State side, I may be off as far as how far the Canadian dollar will go as compared to U.S. money, but judging from the pics, I'd say, given the fact that they are all running tractors, that the Super C will go higher than your friend's budget. The same may be true for the A, but that would be a nice tractor if it can be bought for around $1,200. I'd say the best chance would be the H because the other tractors tend to bring more than an H. Also the H would probably be the easiest to work on if restoration is the goal, even tho cosmetically it appears to need more attention. I have worked on both H's and A's and find A's to be more demanding and intensive to work on. While I do personally love the A's, I think an H is a great first tractor, but thats only one man's opinion, and I would not pass up a good buy on the H if its first to be auctioned hoping to get a good buy on the others as it may not happen. A lot of things hinge on the sequence of the auction. I can't comment much on the F-12 as I'm not sure what they are going for these days.
