In a word, no. IH made the 140 through 1979, 20 or more years after live PTO became common. If it would have been an easy change, they would have done it, apparantly did not because of the cost?? An example of a more "modern" tractor that did not originally come with a live PTO is the 404, a rather loose descendant of the 140. IH did eventually change those, but not the 140.
