COIL PROBLEM

Just finished putting 40 H back together after new paint. Ran fine when I took it apart. I now hook the new coil up and get nothing. I have 5.9 volts at the coil in, and same at the other post out. Problem is when I put the wire on the dist. it goes dead. In is still 5.9 but thats where it stops. I changed the wire, tried another coil, same thing. Would sure appreciate some help.
