The one thing that might help is adding stop leak (Eagle?) to the oil and hydraulics (trans mission stop leak) when you switch them out - might save some the marginal gaskets. I've had decent luck preventing leaks with those products - never stopped one once it actually started leaking though.

Straight pipe is loud - make sure it's tall enough to "blow" the noise over you.
