I have a 6 volt alternator on my H and it is a 3 wire setup so I took a momentery press toggle switch to the +6 side of the battery(I had to convert to neg ground for alternator to work)and connected that to the field connection of the alternator. That way when you shut the engine off with the momentary switch you dont need to worry about the battery running down. The only trouble I have is sometimes I forget to flick the swich once the engine is running. :)
