Thank you for the information. My book does not show this level of detail. This is my fathers tractor and I need it to be right when I am done. The input shaft was not properly installed because the yoke retaining bolt was missing and the bearing spacer is worn from running loose between the bearings. I will check the length of the spacer before the final assembly. If the length is short it will reduce the sliding spline engagement. The input shaft is not in the best shape and reduced engagement is not good for my team. I will order a new bearing with the OD snap ring groove on Monday. The reason I kept asking is because I have worked on a few transmissions in my day. It did not make sense to provide a groove in the bearing retainer and the fact that the input shaft is not held in position by any other method. As I have worked on this project it seems not much is provided for detailed information on the transmissions. The parts are very difficult to obtain correctly. I have spent a lot of time sending things back that were incorrect.Thanks for your help.
