Hi Bernard, I sometimes get the gearbox oil pressure warning light on the dashboard of my 484 after I've been using the PTO a lot (for mowing). You said once that this is probably because of the transfer pump being worn and it cannot move the cooled oil from the back of the tractor up the gearbox quick enough (or something similar). I've also heard that between the back and front compartments of the gearbox is a 'hole' that the oil can move through without requiring the transfer pump (so the warning light does not come on). This 'hole' is normally closed up by a plastic cap or similar but it can be removed to allow the oil to move freely. Apparently the only problem with this is that it can lead to the brakes being starved of oil on steep hills. Have you heard of this?? If so, how easy is it to remove this 'cap'?
